I use cheapest prices search engine to both compare prices and read the consumer written reviews. They have almost every store on the internet and over a million consumer written reviews.

I would think that anyone who buys a camcorder today will be disappointed in it within 18 months. The reason is because camcorder technology is rapidly changing. I think in 18 months we will see flash drive camcorders. I don’t think tape will be a major medium for home videos anymore.
My advise would be to purchase a medium level Mini-DV camcorder or perhaps an entry-level DVD camcorder.
I would keep in mind that whatever I buy today I will be replacing in a couple of years.
